How to Prepare for the Boudoir Experience

Dedicating a bit of time to prepare for your Boudoir Experience ensures you will be feeling your best in front of the camera.

Here are my top tips for getting yourself photo ready:

Before The Session

Skin Care

  • Hydrate! Drinking plenty of water in the weeks leading up to your session is very important. Increasing your water intake can increase energy levels and give skin a cleansing boost.

  • Exfoliate. Our skin needs some TLC from the inside and out. Gently scrub your skin in circular motions a few times a week with a natural bristle dry brush or a loofah before you shower.

  • Moisturize. Moisturize your skin daily, especially right after showers, when skin can dry out most from hot water.

Beauty Services

  • Manicures and Pedicures - I do highly recommend treating yourself to a mani/pedi to ensure your feet and fingers are free of dry skin and hangnails. Even if you do not decide to add nail polish, the exfoliation process of these treatments will ensure your hands and feet are looking their best. This is best done within 2-3 days of your Boudoir Experience.

  • Facials - If you decide treat yourself to a facial, please ensure this is done at least 7 days prior to your Boudoir Experience, to allow your skin to purge and recover. Follow your aesthetician's guidance. Peels or deep skin treatments are not recommended within 2 weeks of of your photo session.

  • Spray tans - Please Avoid It. Spray tans many times have an unnatural color and can produce worse tan lines than the real sun. Spray tan lines are very difficult to edit out of your photographs and always end up in weird places.

Hair Care

  • Just like our skin, our hair deserves some love too! Drinking plenty of water and optionally applying a few hydrating hair masks in the upcoming weeks, will have your locks looking luscious. Make sure the last hair mask is done at least 3 days or more before your Boudoir Experience to avoid oily looking hair during the photo session.

  • If you color your hair, be sure your color is at its best. It is recommended to complete any color touch ups about a week before your session to ensure you’re happy with the results before you are photographed.

Hair Removal

IF you choose to remove hair from any body parts such as eyebrows, bikini, legs, underarms, etc., it is recommended to wax any body parts about 3-4 days before your session to eliminate any red or blotchy skin, or to shave 1-2 days before your session to allow irritation or razor bumps to settle. Follow your aesthetician's post waxing instructions for exfoliation.

Expectations

It is totally normal to feel a range of emotions while waiting for your Boudoir Experience. Excited, Nervous, Powerful, Scared, Curious, Worried, Hyped, or Self-Conscious, you will probably feel each and every one at some point!

I promise that I am here to guide you through all of them.

This experience is not going to produce unrealistic photos of what you wish your body looked like.

This experience will result in photos that accentuate the incredible features that make up who you are today.

It is important to have clear expectations about your photos before you come to the studio. If you have questions or fears, let's chat!
